Course activities, especially those being assessed, have a strong impact on learning as they influence students by directing their attention to the most important elements of the course. This is especially true in online courses where students lack the face to face interaction with the instructor thus relying more heavily on the course activities to guide their learning.
This presentation will explore the process of designing and developing a custom-made technology-enhanced activities. The activities were designed to enhance learning based on three principles of good practice in undergraduate education: active learning techniques, cooperative learning among students and prompt feedback. The activities were developed by a team consisting of subject matter experts, instructional designer and educational technologist. The process of developing such activities from design considerations through implementation to review and revision will be presented.
